Check Your Na Yin Element
The Year Pillar is a representation of your year of birth using the Ten Heavenly Stems and Twelve Earthly Branches. For example, for those born in Year 1949, the Year Pillar is Ji (H6) Chou (E2).
The Representing Nayin Element
Every pillar comprise of a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch. The Na Yin () Element is the product element as a result of the pairing up of the Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch. The resultant element might, at times, turn out to be completely different - for example, when Jia (H1 - Wood) and Zi (E1 - Water) combines, the resultant Na Yin element turns out to be Metal.
Strangely, although there exists a formula on how to calculate the Na Yin element, there seems no proper explanation on how the resultant element is derived.
Application of the Nayin Element
Also referred to as your Life Element (), the Na Yin method is commonly adopted by some Feng Shui practioners to find out the most auspicious direction (for location of bedrooms etc) for a person. It is also commonly used to measure the compatiblity of couples.
It is believed that if the Na Yin element of you and that of your partner's is a complementary one, then your marriage will be a blessed one.
For example, if you are born in 1972, your Nayin element is Wood. Your partner's Nayin element is Water, if he/she is born in 1974. Water nourishes Wood, henceforth, your Nayin elements matched perfectly.
Do not be despaired if the element relationship is a conflicting one (for example, Water and Fire). It only means that both of you might have different opinions. Efforts can still be made to make things work.
This application allows you to check your Na Yin element based on your date of birth.
The calculation is based on formulas and doesn't take into considerations the exact handover time of seasons (which is critical for people born on certain days - email me to find out more).
